2013 – BASIC INFORMATION

SEASON PLAY:
Monday/Tuesday: The regular season consists of 32 evening games (16 double headers).  All games are 5 inning games.  It runs from the week of April 29, 2013 to the week ending August 13, 2013. No games will be played on Mondays of long weekends.
Wednesday/Thursday: The regular season consists of 32 evening games (16 double headers).  All games are 5 inning games.  It runs from the week of April 29, 2013 to the week ending August 13, 2013. August 19-22, 2013 will be used as make-up time if required.  August 19&21 will be Wednesday make-up games if required.  August 20&22 will be Thursday make-up games if required.

TOURNAMENTS:  All teams are invited to 2 (two) free tournaments.  Each team will be guaranteed a minimum 4 tournament games (5 innings) per tournament.
Tuesday/Wednesday tournament: May 11&12, 2013
Monday/Thursday tournament: May 25&26, 2013
Tuesday/Thursday tournament: June 15&16, 2013
Monday/Wednesday tournament: June 22&23, 2013

PLAY-OFFS:  All teams make play-offs.  Each team will be guaranteed a minimum 4 play-off games (5 innings).
Monday/Tuesday play-offs: August 17&18, 2013
Wednesday/Thursday play-offs: August 24&25, 2013

UMPIRES:  All registration costs will cover umpires for season and play-off games.  Dave Black, L.M.S.A. Umpire-In-Chief, will be in charge of all umpire assignments and payments.

LEAGUE FEES: Registration is $1,360.00 plus $50.00 performance bond.

If not paid in full on or before April 20, 2013 (a minimum $300.00 deposit must be made), the remaining balance is due before your games as follows:

First installment:  On or before April 20, 2013 ($300.00).
Second installment:  Before your games, the week of May 20, 2013 ($460.00)
Third installment:  Before your games, the week of June 10, 2013 ($300.00)

REGISTRATION DATES:  Registrations will be taken on the following dates:
Thursday, March 28, 2013 between 6:00pm & 8:00pm @ L.M.S.
Wednesday, April 10, 2013 between 6:00pm & 8:00pm @ L.M.S.
Saturday, April 20, 2013 between 12:00pm & 4:00pm @ L.M.S.
BALLS: Each team is to supply one good game ball. The only ball allowed for play will be:
12” Worth Optic (yellow) Super Gold Dot (Cor 44, Dura-hyde cover)

BATS: L.M.S.A. Slo-Pitch honours the SPN approved bat list.  Umpires will be checking the bats before games.

FIELD EQUIPMENT: Bases, pitching rubbers and plates are provided by Little Mountain Sportsplex.  All field equipment is set-up and maintained by Little Mountain Sportsplex.  All Little Mountain Sportsplex diamonds are dragged daily.

INSURANCE ROSTERS: Insurance information to be released shortly.  All insurance rosters will be due no later than June 3, 2013.  Additions/Deletions will be welcome until July 8, 2013.  At this point all rosters will be frozen.  All players must participate in a minimum 12 games to be eligible for play-offs.

SCORECARDS/REPORTING: Umpires will be supplied with scorecards; however, it is the winning team’s responsibility to turn them (black mailbox at L.M.S. office inside hall) after their games.  All winning teams are responsible to submit their scorecards here after their game concludes.  If the winning team fails to submit their scorecard(s) within one hour of their last game, both teams will be recorded as a loss (recorded as a 0-0 loss).  In the case of a tie or split, the HOME team of the last game is responsible for submitting the scorecard(s).

RAIN-OUT GAMES: All first half make-up games will be played on July 13&14, 2013.  All second half (and remaining) make-up games will be played August 10&11, 2013.  Teams should fully expect to play on both these weekends. These make-up games must be played (no exceptions) so please plan ahead if you have makeup games.  A minimum of 2 games and maximum of 3 games will be played per day.  If a team decides to opt-out of a make-up, they must do so by 11:59pm the Tuesday prior to the make-up weekend. If notice is not given by that date/time and a team no-shows, or gives late notice, a $75.00 fine will be issued to the team.  All teams that are ready and available to play will, those teams that opt-out will receive 0-7L for missed games.  A minimum 2 games/maximum 3 games a day will be played on each of the make-up days.

OPT-OUT/FORFEITS: If your team cannot make a regular season game, they must give a minimum 48 hours notice to do so without penalty. Failure to give 48 hour notice and not field a team will result in a $50.00 fine.

All teams agree to comply with the Rules and Regulations of Little Mountain Sportsplex. No outside alcohol permitted. No tail gating allowed. Please make use the Clubhouse Bar&Grill and support their corporate sponsors. Violation of LMS Rules will result in loss of performance bond and/or expulsion from the league and/or facility.

2013 – RULES & REGULATIONS

League executive reserve the right to revise these rules at their discretion and as they see fit. If this occurs, all team captains will be notified.  Any rule not covered herein will be covered in the SPN Rulebook (included in this package). Please note:  The below are rules specific to our league.

GAME FORMAT:
5 INNING GAMES: 2 games per night are played against the team listed on the schedule. A 10 run mercy rule is in effect after 3 innings of play. Game 1 of the night starts at 6:30pm. 10 minute maximum grace period for late arriving teams.  In the event of a tie in the first game, it shall remain a tie, and the second game shall begin. If the second game is tied, extra innings shall be played until such time as a winner is declared. International rule in effect. Complete innings shall be played (top and bottom of the inning).
MAX RUNS PER INNING: A maximum 7 runs will be allowed per inning. Last inning is open (no limit).

SHOW UP & PLAY:
REGULAR SEASON/PLAY-OFFS:  Teams may opt-out of regular season games 48 hours in advance without penalty.  If a team opts-out over 24 hours in advance but less than 48 hours a $50.00 fine will be given.  If a team no-shows or opts-out less than 24 hours before game time a $100.00 fine will be given.
MAKE-UP WEEKENDS: Teams may opt-out of play-offs 72 hours in advance without penalty.  If a team opts-out over 48 hours in advance but less than 48 hours a $75.00 fine will be given.  If a team no-shows or opts-out less than 24 hours before first game time a $150.00 fine will be given.
Teams are permitted to play with a minimum of 8 players.  Automatic outs must be recorded for any missing players.

BE PREPARED:
Please be a minimum 10 minutes early before game time to complete game cards.  Teams must have 2 playable (good shape) game balls on hand. Each team is to supply 1 playable game ball for each game.

PITCHING:
SLO-PITCH: Arc must be between 6 –12 feet “illegal pitch” will be called if ball not swung at. Illegal pitch will be an automatic ball. If ball is swung at the result of the pitch will stand.
STRIKE ZONE: When the ball crosses the batter (shoulder to knee) at the plate. Umpires may define the zone further by outlining the zone at the beginning of the game. Balls and strikes may not be contested.
FOUL STRIKE:  Every foul ball is recorded as a strike regardless of pitch-count.

LINE-UP:
BATTING ORDER: 10 batters. First and last names must be on scorecards. The option of an additional male and female added to the line-up is available.  Defensive substitutions with the 12 batters in the line-up is unlimited.  If a team starts with 10 batters in their batting order, a teams must finish with 10 batters in their batting order.  If a team starts with 12 batters in their batting order, they must finish with 12 batters in their batting order.  Additional female must be put in 11th batting spot (2, 5, 8, 11).
SUBSTITUTIONS: A player may re-enter the game only in their original position in the order.
COURTESY RUNNERS: 5 courtesy runners may be used per team, per game.

SPORTSMANSHIP:
PROFANITY: Anyone using profanity, despite where it is directed is unacceptable.
UMPIRE ABUSE: There is zero toleration for any verbal or physical abuse of umpires. Opposing players and/or umpires will lead to player ejection and/or suspension from the league and/or facility.  All umpire decisions are final.
THREATS: Any threats issued towards opposing players and/or umpires will lead to player ejection and/or suspension from the league and/or facility.
DRESS CODE: Uniforms are optional but highly recommended.  Dress appropriately for family-friendly environment.  If something being worn is deemed offensive or could cause injury, umpires and/or park officials may ask for it to be removed or covered.  If request is not fulfilled you will be asked to leave the facility and further action may be applied.
PROTESTS: $75.00 per incident. If protest is won, your $75.00 will be returned if found valid. There will be no protesting the umpires’ judgement as his/her calls are final. If your team is found incorrect after protest, your $75.00 bond will be revoked.

BASE RUNNING:
SAFE-BAG:  All first bases are safe bases, please use the orange when running through bag.
NO LEADING OFF: Batter must make contact with ball before runner leaves bag.
NO STEALING: Batter must make contact with ball before runner leaves bag.
COMMITMENT LINE: No-touch home plate. 20ft. home plate commitment line is in play.

LITTLE MOUNTAIN SPORTSPLEX

2013 – PARK RULES & REGULATIONS

 

·  All participants entering park must pay a $2.00 gate fee or show eligible GATE PASS.  Children under twelve and senior over 65 are exempt.  $50.00 fine will be placed on all teams which are caught trespassing.

·  No outside food or beverage allowed.  No COOLERS will be allowed on-site.  Coordinators will be responsible for all their teams. $100.00 fine will be placed on all teams which are caught with outside liquor.  L.M.S. has the right to inspect all bags/coolers.

·  No open liquor allowed outside licensed areas. $100.00 fine will be placed on all teams which are caught with liquor outside licensed areas.

·  No vehicles allowed on diamonds or fields. Speed limit is 20km on all roadways.

·  All animals must be kept on leash.  No pets allowed inside hospitality centre.  If you chose to bring pet, please clean-up after.

·  All park rules and league constitutions are enforced. Umpires enforce all park rules.

·  Anyone damaging park property will be asked to leave the facility.

·  Any excessive clean-up required after games/events will be charged a rate of $50.00/field clean-up.
